Employing techniques developed during the Georgian heyday of ceramics, today's Chamberlain & Co artisans will dedicate up to 90 hours to create a Broadway vase.
It takes in the region of 7 hours to cast and assemble, a minimum of 8 visits to the kiln and at least 60 hours to hand paint. The grand finale is the gilding with only the very best 23 karat gold which develops a beautifully burnished finish which will be met with much applause.
Chamberlain have chosen four styles of surface decoration for their Broadway vase, Heritage Garden, Imperial Imari, Black, and King George III.
Heritage Garden design takes it influence from the historical Chinese, Worcestershire china and chinoiserie, these elements have been crafted into a contemporary design featuring beautiful floral sprays that weave together, interspersed with delicate vignettes of flowers and leaves.
Chamberlain Black is a deeply dramatic, black design in pure, luxurious jet black bone china, virtually unique in the world of prestige ceramics. The glimmering jet black surface of each is adorned by graceful hummingbirds descending upon tantalising passionflowers so lifelike that one can almost detect the exotic scent. Highlights of 23 Karat gold bring additional lustra to these richly contrasted works of art.
King George III
The prestigious King George III design truly a celebrates Georgian heritage, the vase is decorated with vignettes bordered by a turquoise colour ground reflecting the historic colours used in British ceramics in the late 18th and early 19th Centuries. The turquoise is reminiscent of the era adding a complementary dynamic to the colours found in the hand painted flowers.
